Meetings With Mediator Continue In Caesars Windsor Strike

Unifor National President Jerry Dias and Regional President of Caesars Windsor Kevin Laforet will join exploratory talks aimed at getting the two sides back to the bargaining table.

A provincial mediator arrived in Windsor yesterday, but no new formal talks are scheduled, and the strike by 2,100 housekeepers, dealers, janitors, and cooks is almost eight weeks old.

Meanwhile, Unifor Local 444 plans to increase the number of information roundtables with its members.

In a Facebook post that was shared Wednesday night, Local President Dave Cassidy wrote, "so far the meetings have been constructive, well received, and have brought clarity to misinformation."

Meeting times Thursday and Friday are at 8am and 12pm. Two more meetings have been added those days at 2:30pm and 5pm.

On Saturday and Sunday, meeting times are 8am, 10:30am, 1pm, and 3:30pm.

The meetings will be kept to 30 members at a time and those who wish to participate are asked to call 519-987-3166 to register.

The meetings will continue until the bargaining committee is called back to the table.
