It was down to the wire, but the Ontario Liberal Party has nominated its candidate for the Essex riding.
Kate Festeryga, a long-time activist and provincial public servant, was acclaimed as the Liberal candidate on Wednesday.
“Health care, transportation and education — government has a role to play in making sure people have fair and equal access to these, and we can’t get there without a solid plan we know will work,” she said in a news release.
Festeryga currently works as an issues manager with the Ontario government and has been engaged in community-building and politics for years, working on multiple campaigns including Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential run.
Thursday is the final day candidates can be nominated for the June 7 provincial election.
