Man Charged After B&E And High Risk Vehicle Stop

A Windsor man is facing a slew charges after an investigation led to a high-risk vehicle stop on the EC Row Expy. on Saturday.

The investigation started after a break and enter was reported at a car dealership on Tecumseh Rd. W near Crawford Ave. on April 16, 2018. Three vehicles, a number of cheques, and vehicle keys were stolen from the business.

A suspect in the case was identified after one of the stolen cheques was deposited at an ATM.

On Friday, the suspect was involved in an incident on Grand Marais Rd. E. Two complainants reported a man tried to hit them with a black SUV. The victims were not injured but told police the man pointed a gun at them.

Police believed the vehicle involved in the incident was one of the stolen vehicles. It was located by police early Saturday morning in downtown Windsor. Around the same time, the car dealership was broken into again and a Ford Focus was stolen with keys taken in the original break-in.

The Ford Focus was spotted on the EC Row Expy. near Dougall Ave. Saturday afternoon. A high-risk vehicle stop was conducted because officers believed the suspect could have had a gun on him.

The driver and a passenger in the vehicle were arrested.

A 34-year-old man is facing a total of 19 charges including theft of a motor vehicle, break and enter, fraud, dangerous driving, and pointing a firearm.

Police did not recover a weapon from the vehicle. The investigation remains active.
