Did You Get A Call From ENWIN? It Might Not Be ENWIN

ENWIN is warning its customers about a scam after it got a tip.

The utility says the scammer calls the potential victim and insists on payment for an overdue bill. The person threatens to cut off power unless money is paid by credit card or wire transfer.

The tricky part is, when the victim questions the scammer, asking for their name and their supervisor's name, the person does respond. However, neither of them are actual ENWIN employees.

The utility says if you get a call asking for your credit card number or other personal financial information, never give it out. Call ENWin at 519-255-2727.

If you feel unsafe, call Windsor police.

"We take our responsibility to the community very seriously," says ENWIN spokeswoman Barbara Pierce Marshall. "We hope to help customers recognize scams and to prevent fraud."
