Over $50K Of Drugs Seized At Windsor Hotel

Over $50,000 of suspected fentanyl has been seized by Windsor police after an investigation at a local motel.

Police were called to the motel on Howard Ave. on Saturday after employees found a firearm in one of the rooms. The occupants of the room were identified and police held the scene as they waited for a search warrant.

One of the occupants returned to the room and was arrested. Two other suspects were seen leaving the parking lot of the hotel in a vehicle. Police pursued the vehicle briefly but stopped due to public safety reasons.

When the hotel room was searched police seized over 100 g of a drug coined "Purple Heroin" which is believed to be a mixture of heroin and fentanyl. Around 30 g of powdered fentanyl and 4 g of crack cocaine were also seized. Another unknown substance was also seized from the hotel room as well as the handgun found by the employees. The total value of the drugs seized is estimated to be $54,240.

Three people are facing charges in the investigation. Police say the investigation is ongoing and more charges are anticipated.

A 25-year-old man from Toronto and a 23-year-old man from Kitchener are facing charges of possession of a firearm without a license. A 35-year-old man from Windsor is facing charges of dangerous driving and failing to stop for police.
