Windsor ComiCon Launches A New "Experience"

An annual celebration of "geek-dom" is expanding.

Windsor ComiCon is planning to utilise Windsor's downtown core when the popular event takes place this fall.

The Downtown Windsor Business Improvement Association (DWBIA) is sponsoring the Windsor ComiCon Experience. The advocacy group for the downtown area has put out a Request For Proposals (RFP) to support the expansion.

The plan is to offer local businesses and groups a chance to host mini-ComicCons outside of the show's traditional hours, and the DWBIA is encouraging businesses to participate.

"We're thrilled to partner with Windsor ComiCon and we're lining up a suite of opportunities that support local businesses and engage families," says DWBIA executive director Debi Croucher in a news release. "The 'Con' will spur numerous opportunities for secondary and tertiary business, too."

The DWBIA will be activating on-site via local businesses through events such as the Artists' Café, Night of Heroes, ComiCon After Dark Party, and others.

The ComiCon is a popular all-ages event celebrating comic books, science fiction, horror, gaming and anime/cosplay. The event features collectors and exhibitors showing off rare memorabilia and many attendees visit the show wearing costumes of their favourite characters.

This year's ComiCon takes place September 28, 29 and 30 at the Colosseum at Caesars Windsor.

Businesses interested in submitting a proposal to potentially host a Comi-Con themed event should call (519) 252-5723, or send an email.
