Reports: LaSalle's Willson Meets With Lions

Could an NFL star from LaSalle be bringing his services close to home?

Multiple sources began reporting Thursday night that free-agent tight end Luke Willson, a native of LaSalle, included the Detroit Lions on his list of teams he's visiting.

The visit with the Lions took place on Saturday and was previously confirmed by NFL Canada via Twitter, though there's been no word from either the Lions or Willson himself.

Willson, 28, played the last five seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, winning a Super Bowl with them following the 2013 season.

The Lions are looking for help at tight end, after parting ways with Eric Ebron.

Willson played his high school football at St. Thomas of Villanova in LaSalle and his college ball at Rice University. The Seahawks drafted him in the fifth round of the 2013 NFL Draft and his Super Bowl ring came in his rookie season at Seattle.

Willson has also reportedly visited with the Carolina Panthers and the Jacksonville Jaguars. He revealed last year on his own Twitter account that he grew up a Lions fan and had once dressed up as Lions legend Barry Sanders for Halloween.
