More Investment Coming To Revitalize Main Streets

The Ontario government is investing in main streets across the province.

Minister of Economic Development and Growth Steven Del Duca was in Windsor Thursday morning to announce $212,000 in funding for main street revitalization.

He says the money can be used for storefront rehabilitation, tree planting, or other revitalization projects.

"The funding comes from the province administrated through our partner associations," says Del Duca. "They'll continue to work with municipalities like Windsor and small business owners to determine how best to deploy these funds."

Windsor Ward 3 Councillor Rino Bortolin says the funds will help enhance what the city is already doing to boost main streets.

"There's no shortage of projects and desire to spend the money and the requests from the BIAs, there's a long list. So this will boost a lot of the efforts that we're doing," says Bortolin.

All municipalities with the exception of Toronto will be allocated funding for similar projects based on a funding formula.
