Alert Resident’s Tip Leads To Charges

Windsor police say a man is charged as the result of an alert resident’s watchful eye.

Police say a man was seen breaking into parked vehicles around 2:30am Sunday on Pierre Ave. near Chatham St. E. At least three vehicles had been affected.

Officers were able to obtain a detailed description of the suspect, who was spotted shining a flashlight into a parked vehicle two blocks away.

The suspect was arrested without incident.

Police say he had tools that could have been used to break into something. Officers also found some of the stolen property on him, some of which has been returned to the owners.

Windsor police Sergeant Steve Betteridge says a 20-year-old Windsor man is charged with two counts of mischief under $5,000, two counts of possession of stolen property, and possession of break-and-enter tools.

The WPS Property Crimes Unit is investigating.
