Spitfires Fall 4-3 To Wolves

The Windsor Spitfires dropped a close 4-3 decision to the Sudbury Wolves on Thursday.

The Spits started the game off strong with Mathew MacDougall and Curtis Douglas each scoring once to take a 2-0 lead just under five minutes into the first period. However, the Wolves fought back late in the frame and scored twice to tie things up heading into the second.

Sudbury took the lead in the second with the only goal of the period and then added another 12:23 into the third to extend their lead to 4-2. Luke Kutkevicius scored for Windsor with just over five minutes left to play, but Sudbury kept the Spitfires at bay to win with a one-goal lead.

Windsor goaltender Michael DiPietro made 23 saves out of 27 shots on net.

The Spitfires will head to Saginaw on Saturday to battle the Spirit at 7:05pm.
