Thieves Targeting Unlocked Vehicles In Tecumseh

The OPP are warning people in Tecumseh after a recent spike in motor vehicle break-ins.

Authorities say several items have been stolen out of cars lately. Investigators say people are still leaving valuables, including wallets, cash and cellular phones in their unlocked vehicles visible to anyone passing by.

Police officials say these thefts are considered crimes of opportunity and criminals will target several vehicles in a given area, most often entering and stealing from those that are left unlocked.

The OPP encourages the public to lock their vehicles and never leave a running vehicle unattended. They also recommend people call police if they see suspicious activity in their neighbourhood.
