Spitfires Trampled By Colts 5-4 In OT

The Windsor Spitfires fell 5-4 in overtime to the Barrie Colts in OHL action on Thursday.

The Spitfires made it on the board first with Luke Kutkevicius scoring 1:11 into the game, however, the Colts countered with two back-to-back goals to take a 2-1 lead. Jake Smith scored for Windsor in the final seconds of the first period to tie the game.

Windsor retook the lead with William Sirman scoring early in the second, but Barrie once again tied up the game with a goal just before the end of the frame.

In the third, it was the Colts that took the lead in just under three minutes, but Mathew MacDougall scored for Windsor at the 7:47 mark to tie the game and force OT.

Former Spitfire Aaron Luchuk scored the game-winner for the Colts after 2:45 of extra time.

Windsor goaltender Michael DiPietro made 30 saves out of 35 shots on net.

The Spitfires are on home ice again on Sunday to battle the Flint Firebirds. The puck drops at 2:05pm.
