Snow Clearing To Continue All Weekend

Both City of Windsor and County of Essex snow removal crews will continue to work throughout the weekend to clear snow from roads.

Tom Bateman, the director of Infrastructure Services with the County of Essex, says even though they've been out since last night the condition of main roads varies.

"We've got some roads that we're maintaining in track bare, meaning there's really two strips of visible pavement, others we have just the centre bare and some of the lower volume roads are still snow covered," says Bateman.

In the City of Windsor, crews continue to focus on arterial and collector routes. Residential streets will only be started if there is a break in the snowfall.

With snow expected to continue into the weekend, city officials expect plowing to continue into early next week.

Residents are asked to park in their driveways or nearby parking lots when possible to make snow plowing easier and more efficient.

Residents are reminded that sidewalks abutting their property are their responsibility to clear. All sidewalks are to be cleared 12 hours after the snowfall ends for residential property owners and four hours for commercial property owners.
