Family of Windsor Jogger Sets Up GoFundMe Page

The family of a jogger killed last weekend is asking for help to send his body home.

A GoFundMe page has been set up by the family of Przemyslaw Wachta, who died Saturday night after being struck by a train in Windsor.

According to the page, written in Polish and English, the family is seeking $10,000 to help return Wachta's body to his native Poland. As of Thursday afternoon, donations totalled more than $3,100.

The page says Wachta was an avid jogger who also enjoyed swimming.

Wachta leaves behind two sons, age 18 and 14, and a six-year-old daughter.

Windsor Police say Wachta was on his daily jog on Jefferson Blvd at South Service Rd when he was hit by a train. Police say Wachta was wearing headphones and may not have been aware a train was coming, but witnesses told police he ignored the crossing control devices.

The page says Wachta was in Windsor on a "work contract" to raise money for his family. A Facebook page with the GoFundMe page photo on it says Wachta was from Mielec, a city in southeastern Poland.
