CMHA Office No Longer Taking Walk-In Patients

If you were hoping to get mental health help, you will have to go downtown.

The Canadian Mental Health Association Windsor-Essex County Branch is no longer taking walk-in patients. Those services are now being offered at Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare's Transitional Stability Centre on Ouellette Ave.

The two organizations are moving closer to integrating mental health services.

"What this move really means for our community is one phone number, one physical entry point, and coordinated treatment for those seeking immediate mental health services," says CMHA WECB CEO Claudia den Boer. "Instead of clients having to navigate the system alone, the teams at [the Transitional Stability Centre] do this for them, and ensure they remain under the coordinated access model of care before they move on or are discharged."

The centre recently celebrated its 1st anniversary. A total of 524 clients were seen at the centre last year. It is open seven days a week, from 8am to 8pm, and by calling 519-973-4435 24 hours a day.
