Windsor Ends 125th Year Sunday

A milestone year in Windsor's history comes to a close Sunday.

The city is officially ending its year-long Windsor 125 celebration with a New Year's Eve event downtown. The festivities begin at 3pm with an interfaith service at All Saints' Church on Charles Clark Square.

At 4pm, the scene shifts to the lobby of City Hall where Mayor Drew Dilkens will reseal a time capsule with instructions to open it in 2042 when the city celebrates its 150th birthday.

Dilkens had opened the time capsule earlier this year, following instructions left by the 1992 Centennial Committee. The mayor will place 25 additional artifacts inside it.

The city commemorated this year the 125th anniversary of its incorporation as a city. The celebration has been in conjunction with Canada 150.
