Access Your Immunization Records Online

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit has a new online system for reporting immunizations.

The health unit is now making use of the provincial system, Immunization Connect Ontario. It’s accessible online to patients and their dependents using their health card number or an ID number provided by the health unit.

Judy Allen with the health unit says parents can view their child’s records, report an immunization, and see when their next shots are due.

“I think a common misconception is that as physicians or nurse practitioners give immunizations this information automatically comes to the health unit,” says Allen. “But at this time the only way we have to collect this information is specifically either a parent or the student so if you haven’t reported anything to us we won’t have it.”

The system may come in handy as 4,200 Windsor-Essex students were given notice last week that they have incomplete immunization records. If they don’t get their shots or update their records by March 19, 2018, they could be suspended.
