Spitfires Fall 4-3 To Steelheads In Shootout

The Windsor Spitfires came up short in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Mississauga Steelheads on Thursday.

Connor Corcoran drew first blood for Windsor with a goal 6:32 into the game, but the Steelheads tied things up with a goal of their own before the end of the first period.

Mathew MacDougall scored the only goal of the second period to put the Spitfires back in the lead heading into the final frame.

In a back and forth third, Mississauga scored 21 seconds into the period to tie the game once again. Curtis Douglas scored for Windsor to make it 3-2 with just under six minutes left to play, but the Steelheads scored again to force overtime.

After no scoring in OT, Mississauga outmatched Windsor in a shootout.

Spitfires goaltender Lucas Patton made 37 saves out of 40 shots on net.

The Spitfires will now head to Saginaw on Saturday to battle the Spirit at 7:05pm
