LaSalle Pulls Lone Taxi License

The owner of LaSalle Taxi says revoking his license will be a huge loss to the town.

Town councillors voted to revoke the license at a meeting Tuesday. The last day for the taxi service will be December 16, 2017.

A news release from the Town of LaSalle says councillors decided to repeal its licence based on complaints of dirty cars, delayed pick-ups, and unsafe driving.

Sam Nizzer says complaints to the town were never followed up with his business and the town did not do its due diligence before revoking his license.

"We've got all good cars. Mechanical we are number one. We have our own garage and we service all our own vehicles. We have clean cars too. Anyone can come and inspect it," says Nizzer.

LaSalle Taxi had five vehicles and 17 part-time drivers.

Residents of LaSalle can now contact cab companies from outside the municipality to pick them up.
