Police Solve Robbery Using DNA

Windsor police have identified a robbery suspect after analyzing DNA found on a helmet left at the scene.

On August 11, 2017, a pharmacy on McDougall Ave. near Foch Ave was robbed. The suspect got into an altercation with one of the employees and left behind an ebike helmet.

Police analyzed DNA found in the helmet and identified a suspect who was living in Kingsville.

With the help of the OPP Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement unit, Windsor police were able to arrest the suspect outside his home on Tuesday.

Police also linked the 58-year-old suspect to a knife point robbery of a gas station in 2014.

A search warrant was also done on the home and police seized a number of narcotics as well as clothing linked to the robbery.

The man is charged with two counts of robbery, two counts of disguising his identity, and one count of uttering threats.
