Bright Lights Windsor Set Up Begins

The Bright Lights Windsor winter light festival is one you're not going to want to miss, according to Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens.

"We think that light is one of those things that unifies a community. It doesn't matter what your faith is, it doesn't matter what your culture, what your religion is, where you come from, everyone likes lights," says Dilkens.

The festival officially launches in Jackson Park on December 8 and runs until January 7, 2018. The lights will operate every evening from 5:30pm-10pm with special light shows on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

The budget for the lights festival was originally $3-million, but that was reduced by about half after the major flood that affected the city in August.

"This is going to be a fantastic light display. I think the residents are going to be very impressed by what they see and it's just the start of this festival," says Dilkens.

There will be vendors and community entertainment scheduled for weekends during the festival.
