Suspect Sought in Amherstburg Break-and-Enters

Police in Amherstburg are asking for the public's help in identifying a break-and-enter suspect.

Amherstburg Police Const. Steve Owen says two downtown businesses were broken into late Thursday night, and it is believed the suspect is responsible for both of them.

Surveillance camera footage shows the suspect lingering in the area of Richmond St near Dalhousie St. Around 10:45pm, the suspect was seen kicking in the door of Musicland at 59 Richmond St. He emerged about five minutes later and was seen heading back toward Dalhousie St. About $500 in cash was taken from the store.

Just before midnight, someone, either the suspect or an accomplice, forced their way into the Artisan Grill at 269 Dalhousie St. The suspect left without taking anything, though.

The suspect is then seeing getting into a GMC pickup truck with trailer mirrors, a metal rack behind the cab and a tool box in the bed. A second person was seen waiting in the vehicle.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect or the vehicle involved is asked to call Amherstburg Police at (519) 736-3622, or Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-8477 (TIPS).
