Flooding Possible In Essex County Due To Wind

The local conservation authority is warning that strong winds may cause flooding in areas near the Lake Erie shoreline in Essex County.

The Essex Region Conservation Authority says wind speeds could reach 25 km/hr to 45 km/hr Thursday morning and with gusts up to 50 km/hr.  The wind is expected to continue through the day before shifting northwest in the late afternoon or evening.

With the duration of the foretasted wind, there is a possibility waves may cause near shore erosion with wave over topping and spray. There is also a possibility of breakwall damage.

Pelee Island, Point Pelee National Park, Leamington, Kingsville and Essex may be potentially affected.

Residents are urged to take extra caution and avoid shoreline areas when threatening weather approaches.
