Windsor's unemployment rate made a significant jump last month, according to Statistics Canada.
Its monthly report on labour rates says the jobless rate jumped from 5.8% in September, to 6.9% in October.
It increased in London too, up 0.8% to 6.3%.
Victoria B.C. continues to enjoy the lowest unemployment rate in Canada at 3.8%, while St. John's Newfoundland has the highest at 8.8%.
The national economy added 35,500 net jobs in October, but more young people are looking for work, says Statistics Canada. While the number of full-time positions swelled by 88,700, it was offset by losses in part-time work which shed 53,400 jobs. That boosted the national unemployment rate to 6.3%, up 0.1%.
There were 18,400 new jobs created in the construction industry, while the number of jobs in information, culture and recreation swelled by 15,300. The "other services" category saw the greatest growth with 21,400 positions.
Wholesale and retail trade shed 35,900.
Ontario's rate also jumped. It is up to 5.9%, up from 5.6% in September.
