Men From Lakeshore, Windsor Charged For Multiple Thefts

A man from Windsor and another from Lakeshore are facing charges after a number of thefts in Oxford County.

The Ontario Provincial Police says on Thursday around 7:30ppm, officers responded to a a break and enter that was in progress at an under construction on home on Oxford Rd. 88 in Zorra Township.

When officers arrived, they found the door smashed in and $4,500 worth of tools were stolen.

Witnesses described a vehicle leaving the scene before police arrived, which was seen a short time later after fuel was stolen from the Tavistock Gas & Variety on Woodstock St. N in Tavistock.  Officers later determined that the black 2009 Dodge Caliber had been reported stolen during a robbery in Essex County on Wednesday.

Two suspects have since bee arrested in connection to those crimes. Lottery tickets and personal bank documents that had been stolen from vehicles in East Zorra-Tavistock Township were seized during the arrest.

A 21-year-old Lakeshore man is charged with break and enter to commit an indictable offence, two counts of theft under $5,000, and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

A 26-year-old Windsor man is also charged with theft under $5,000, failing to comply with a probation order, and two counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Police say further charges are pending as an investigation into other thefts is ongoing.
