Windsor Police, OPP Blitz Nets Over 200 Violations

A two-day traffic enforcement operation by Windsor Police has resulted in over 200 violations.

The WPS' Traffic Enforcement Unit paired up with Ontario Provincial Police to conduct the blitz, which was to crack down on aggressive driving and speeding. The enforcement lasted Thursday and Friday.

On Thursday, officers concentrated their efforts on the Hwy 3 and Todd Lane area. Windsor Police say 144 citations were written. Two people have also been charged with stunt driving.

The two agencies shifted their focus Friday to the E.C. Row Expwy. Officers issued 60 enforcement actions and charged one driver with stunt driving. The motorist was clocked at 180 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone.

Finally, the OPP and Windsor Police conducted a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program Friday within the city limits. 241 vehicles were checked, resulting in six roadside tests and one person receiving a roadside licence suspension.
