The playground equipment destroyed by a fire in Tecumseh won't be replaced until the spring.
Insurance adjustors are assessing the damage and the equipment will be removed as soon as possible.
Tecumseh Mayor Gary McNamara says although the park equipment is fully covered by insurance there will still be a cost to the taxpayer.
"That's why we have insurance, to protect the assets we have in our community but there is a cost to the taxpayer as well. There's a $10,000 co-pay that we have to pay," says McNamara.
McNamara says the equipment will be replaced with similar barrier free equipment.
"We want to make sure that whatever we do put in there it's fully accessible, that is the critical point. If there's new opportunities or new technologies we're open to looking at that but in essence it will be the same type of equipment," says McNamara.
Director of Parks and Recreation Paul Anthony says, in addition to replacing the equipment, the town will also have to restore the property for the new equipment.
The Tecumseh Fire Department estimated the fire caused $400,000 in damage.
