Singh Named NDP Leader

Jagmeet Singh is the new leader of the federal New Democrats.

Singh was voted the new leader of the party after one ballot in Toronto with 53.8% of the vote.

Singh spent most of his childhood in Windsor where his family moved after his father completed medical school in Newfoundland & Labrador. He was born in Scarborough, Ontario. He currently serves as an MPP for the provincial NDP in the riding of Bramalea—Gore—Malton, in the GTA.

He campaigned for the leadership on four main issues: inequality, climate change, reconciliation, and electoral reform.

Singh takes over the job from Tom Mulclair.
