Fight Like Mason Donates IV Poles

Children who need IV therapies at home will now have specially designed IV poles thanks to the Fight Like Mason Foundation.

The foundation purchased and customized 20 IV poles in honour of Mason Macri, the founders son who passed away from cancer in 2016.

Mason's mom Chantelle Bacon says she came up with the idea after seeing how Mason reacted to having medical equipment in his home.

"Mason was actually very afraid of the medical equipment coming to his home since he was like 'you told me I wasn't going to go to the hospital anymore' so I decided that we need to do something better," says Bacon.

The poles are topped with super hero symbols, cupcakes and princess crowns.

'We thought of how can we make this fun? How can we make this cool for these kids and why can't the IV pole look like batman and why can't it look like a princess crown? Why can't it be an inviting thing for them in their home? says Iain Macri, Mason's dad.

The pole toppers were cut by local company Klassen Custom Fabricating and painted by SES Powder Coating.

The foundation hopes to raise enough funds to purchase and customize more poles. Each one costs around $800-$1,000.

The poles were donated to the Erie St. Clair LHIN and will be distributed through the LHIN Care Coordinators.
