New EOC And Fire Station Opens

The new fire hall and emergency operation centre is now operational in south Windsor.

Located on Provincial Rd., Fire Station 6 was built to better serve residents in south Windsor.

The new emergency operation centre replaces the outdated centre that was behind Fire Station 1 on Goyeau St.

Fire Chief Steve Laforet says its equipped with the best technology for the city to come up with a plan to respond in an emergency.

"It allows us to get everybody into the room and come up with the plan quicker and coordinated better. Before we were cramped, it was a noisy venue, there was no separation between the key decision makers and the operations staff, which we have now," says Laforet.

The facility was built as a "post disaster" structure that is designed to withstand disasters like earthquakes and tornadoes.
