Flood Cleanup Continues At Two Library Branches

The Windsor Public Library says it is still cleaning up the mess at two of its branches after the flood a few weeks back.

At the Riverside branch, there was three inches of rain water in the basement, and while no materials were damaged, the library has some work to do.

"Damage to our furnace, damage to drywall, staff rooms, meeting rooms," says CEO Kitty Pope listing off the wreckage.

The Budimir branch took even more damage. There was two inches of water, but the sewer backed up.

"We have adjusters and city staff working with us to figure out how exactly we move forward. Is it covered by insurance," Pope says. "The good news is we lost no resources."

She jokes, "Next time, we may have to build an ark."

Meetings booked at either branch will have to be moved, and Pope says discussions are underway with other branches to accommodate those who rented space.

"We certainly have all the flood mitigation that we possibly can," insists Pope. "These were two exceptional rain incidents. The good news is we don't store any of our resources in our basements."
