Bike Lanes Coming To Malden Rd.

More Windsor bicycle enthusiasts will soon have more room to ride.

Windsor City Council has approved a proposal to spend $1.1-million to widen the asphalt along both Malden Rd. and South Cameron Blvd. so eventually, bike lanes can be installed.

CoCo Paving has been hired to do the work.

Signs will immediately go up along Malden Rd.

Resident Jessica Bondy, who commutes daily on her bike to work, considers it a good start.  She says right now, the area does not accommodate bike riders very well.

"From what council has said, I will get  a "share the road" sign put up where they're not putting in a paved shoulder, so that's at least a win in my area directly," says Bondy.

Bondy says there are bike lanes northbound on Malden at the EC Row underpass, but the setup is confusing since the bike path for the Herb Gray Pkwy. ends near the underpass.

When she rides on the road, she says construction crews often shout at her.

Permanent bike paths should be complete next year.
