Lakeshore Reinstates Flood Mitigation Program

Lakeshore Town Council has voted to reinstate the backwater valve subsidy program after major flooding two weeks ago.

Councillors still have not decided the limits on the program. That is expected to come up at the next council meeting on September 26.

In the past, the program covered 80% of the cost of installing a sanitary backwater valve.

Residents who are thinking of applying will need a building permit before the work starts, and the installation must be completed by a certified plumber.

The town also reminds homeowners applying for a subsidy will not guarantee they will receive the grant.
