UPDATE: Stabbing At Windsor Regional Hospital Under Investigation

Windsor police investigators say there is one person in custody after a stabbing Saturday at the Ouellette Campus of Windsor Regional Hospital.

Investigators say a 26-year-old female patient at the hospital was stabbed in the back of the neck near the elevators in the Goyeau St. lobby just before 6:30pm Saturday.

The suspect was quickly restrained and disarmed by a relative who was with them at the time. Hospital security also intervened and held the suspect for police.

Police do not believe the two know each other.

The victim is currently recovering from her wounds, which are considered non-life threatening.

The suspect, a 17-year-old male, faces one count of aggravated assault. The youth can not be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Police say the Major Crimes Unit is still actively investigating the incident, and anyone with information is asked to call the unit at 519-255-6700 ext. 4830, Crime Stoppers at 519-258-8477 (TIPS), or submit their tip online at www.catchcrooks.com.
