Windsor Youth Centre Merging With Downtown Mission

The Downtown Mission and the Windsor Youth Centre are merging as of September 1, 2017.

Both organizations say the merger is a natural fit as they offer similar programming geared toward different demographics.

Executive Director Tamara Kowalska says the merger offers stability and strength to the centre.

"It sends a really strong message that what we're doing is good, it's interesting, it's viable, it's effective and it's attracted the attention of a lot of people doing equally exciting things," says Kowalska.

Downtown Mission Executive Director Ron Dunn says all Windsor Youth Centre programs will continue to be offered.

"This is about helping people earlier and the programming that they offer here is exceptional and it mirrors ours, but it's geared to youth," says Dunn.

The Windsor Youth Centre has been helping at-risk youth in the community for the last six years. The centre sees around 60 at-risk and homeless youth a day.
