Mother And Son Killed In 401 Pile Up

The OPP has released the names of a mother and son from Amherstburg who were killed in a pile up near Chatham Sunday afternoon.

Lacie Brundritt, 42, and 14-year-old Kyle Brundritt were pronounced dead at the scene.

They were stopped on Hwy. 401 near Dillon Rd. around 4:30pm when their pickup was hit by a westbound tractor trailer.

Their pickup was carrying four people and was one of five vehicles stopped because of a separate crash.

The 39-year-old father driving the pickup was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries and another 12-year-old son was transported by ambulance to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Kyle was a student at St. Thomas of Villanova Secondary School. The school's student council tweeted condolences after it was learned that Kyle had died in the crash.
