UPDATE: Essex-Windsor EMS Mourning Loss

Essex-Windsor EMS are mourning the loss of one of their own.

District Chief Shawn Davis was found dead early Wednesday morning. The Ontario Special Investigations Unit confirmed Thursday evening that Davis was the one found in a home in North Chatham.

"Out of respect for our colleague and the gravity of yesterday’s events, Essex-Windsor EMS will not be addressing any further questions or comments at this time," Chief Bruce Krauter said in a statement.

Davis worked for the Essex-Windsor EMS since 2001. He also served as a paramedic for the Dufferin Caledon Ambulance Service, Bolton and District Ambulance Service, Peel York District Ambulance Service, and Shelburne District Hospital Ambulance Service.

"His devotion and pride to the field of paramedicine was outstanding and will be greatly missed. Shawn, as well as his family, friends and colleagues are in our thoughts and prayers during this very sad and difficult time," said Krauter.

SIU continues to investigate the incident.
