Six Charged In Assault In Apartment Building

Six people are now facing charges after a bottle was smashed over a man's head at an apartment building in Windsor.

The Windsor Police Service says on Saturday around 5am, officers responded to a possible stabbing at the apartment on Ouellette Ave. near Hanna St. E, but instead found the male victim suffering a non-life threatening head injury.

Police say the 27-year-old man was approached by several people in the hallway who assaulted him and attempted to take his wallet. At some point, one of the attackers smashed a bottle over the victim's head.  Police do not believe this was a random act.

Officers were able to locate and arrest five suspects, and on Tuesday morning, a sixth suspect attended police headquarters and was arrested.

As a result, six suspects ranging in age from 19 to 21, have all been charged with assault with a weapon.  Five of the six are also charged with robbery.

Anyone with further information regarding this incident is asked to contact Windsor police at 519-255-6700 ext. 4830 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 519-258-8477 (TIPS).
