Lakeshore Moving Forward With Back Water Valve Subsidy Program

Residents in Lakeshore who applied for the backwater valve program should be expecting a phone call from the municipality soon.

Council approved funding the program for the 102 applicants who showed interest installing a back water valve in June.

"Administration advises that any of the applicants that have applied so far will receive contact from the town in terms of how to proceed with the process. There will be some additional steps but contact will be initiated by town staff," says Councillor Steven Wilder.

Wilder also put forward a motion that will consider the continuation of the program during budget time.

"We've gone ahead and allocated sufficient dollars to cover those 102 applications for this year, but I also made a motion to see it as a continuing program for future years should there continue to be a need," says Wilder.

The back water valve program was implemented in response to the major flood that hit the region in September 2016.
