WPS 150th Supports Children's Charities

Over $80,000 was raised through the Windsor Police Service 150th Anniversary Gala.

Four charities will benefit from the proceeds including the Windsor-Essex Youth Council ($5,000), the Constable John Atkinson Memorial Scholarship Fund ($5,000), the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics ($15,000) and the Safety Village ($55,500).

The event was hosted by the Charity Chix, a non-profit organization that raises money for local charities.

“We are absolutely thrilled to be able to contribute to these worth while children's charities. We have witnessed first-hand the tremendous impact that even modest investments, along with care and attention, can have upon the lives of children. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, advertisers and patrons of this gala we are able to enhance programming for children across our region,” says Kim Spirou, president of the Charity Chix.

The money was raised through ticket sales, sponsorship and a silent auction. The charities were presented with cheques at the Windsor Police Service Board meeting Thursday.
