Essex Adopts Five-Year Financial Plan

In a bid to ensure financial stability and predictability, Essex Town Council has adopted its first five-year financial plan.

It includes the 2017 budget and a forecast for both operating and capital spending for 2018 to 2021. It also takes into account the town's Development Charge Background Study, Water Wastewater Study, and Asset Management Plan.

"This document is the result of a year of review and planning by all municipal departments," says Acting Director Finance and Business Services Jeffrey Morrison. "Our intention was to look at long-term goals and to create a well-planned and predictable approach to achieving them financially."

Windsor also has a five-year capital plan, but Essex is one of the first municipalities in Essex County to adopt a long-range forecast for its operating and capital budgets.
