Kingsville Is Alerting Residents About Its New Alert System

Kingsville is launching its mass notification system.

It is being launched Tuesday and is called "Kingsville Alerts," replacing the old Reverse 911 system.

The alerts system has been adopted by Tecumseh and Leamington with excellent results, and is also being implemented in LaSalle and Amherstburg.

Mayor Nelson Santos says the system provides fast notification for public emergencies, staff notifications, and subscriber based community notifications.

"Our goal is to try and get that information to the right people, at the right time, and as quickly as possible.  This system allows our emergency communications team to target messages directly to those affected in the needed areas," says Santos.

Residents can register online.

Santos says the system will notify the public with important information through home phone or, if provided, cell phone, through text or e-mail.

"You can sign up for the different alerts by the municipality.  So, it's not just limited to emergency situations.  If you're looking for community information, you can sign up, and subscribe to that group," Santos says.

Santos says the system will notify residents in the entire municipality or in a specific affected area.

"Go online, sign up right away, confirm the information that is there so we are able to communicate with you at the most important times in the event of an emergency or critical times when we need to provide for the safety of our municipality," says Santos.
