UPDATE: Heat Warning Through Monday

Southwestern Ontario will start the work week in the heat.

Environment Canada has issued a Heat Warning in effect for the following areas:

  • Windsor - Leamington - Essex County
  • Chatham-Kent - Rondeau Park
The weather agency says hot and humid weather will be in the forecast for Monday, with temperatures in the 30s and a humidex flirting with 40. Overnight lows near 22 degrees will provide little relief.

Temperatures are expected to drop into the upper 20s Tuesday.

While all people can be affected by hot weather, people such as the elderly, young children, pregnant women and those with chronic illnesses like asthma are more susceptible.

Environment Canada suggests drinking plenty of water-based fluids if you must be outdoors for a long period of time, even if you don't feel thirsty.

Seek relief on a beach, near a swimming pool, a cool bath or shower, or an air-conditioned building such as a shopping mall or movie theater.
