Trampoline Park Opening In Former Zellers

A new trampoline park is under construction at the former Zellers location at Tecumseh Mall.

When it opens in July, it will be the 11th Skyzone location in Canada.

Franchise Owner Jeff Wood says, in addition to a 6,000 sq ft section of trampolines, there are a number of different attractions.

"A drop zone where you drop off a trampoline into a foam zone; we have a ninja warrior course, we'll have a bouldering wall-like indoor rock climbing, and then there's basketball on trampolines, and we have dodgeball," says Wood.

In addition to the different attractions, Wood says they will also have special times and events geared towards specific audiences. He says he's particularly proud of the program they will offer for autistic children.

"We do some discounted rates, and we let them come in here with the lights turned down and the music turned off. They get some good exercise and get to experience something they may not always get to do," says Wood.

He says they have already hired a handful of people and will finish the hiring process shortly. He says all staff will be trained to ensure safety.

"We do definitely have rules, and we're very strict at enforcing the rules. We'll try and be nice about it; the rules are there for your safety and for everyone else's safety. We'll do our best to follow them and keep everyone safe," says Wood.

The park will take up around 28,000 sq ft of the 90,000 sq ft footprint of the former Zellers.
