Parade To Celebrate Windsor Spitfires

The City of Windsor will host a victory parade for the Memorial Cup Champion Windsor Spitfires on Wednesday at 6pm.

The parade will run down Ouellette Ave. from Wyandotte St. to the riverfront. The team will gather at Riverfront Festival Plaza for speeches. The players will also sign autographs after the parade.

“The Spitfires players, leadership, and ownership have brought so much excitement and pride to our community that this is our way of saying thank you before everyone disperses for the summer,” says Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens.

The Windsor Spitfires defeated the Erie Otters 4-3 to be named the 2017 Memorial Cup champions. They are the first home team to win the Memorial Cup since Shawinigan won in 2012.

The Spits can also add the fact it is the first team Memorial Cup history to win the championship after being eliminated in the first round of the OHL playoffs. The London Knights knocked the team out in seven games.
