The Windsor-Essex Care for Kids Foundation continues its support of Windsor Regional Hospital.
WE Care for Kids, as it is called for short, presented a cheque of over $154,000 Friday to the Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation. This is part of a total of $405,000 donated by the foundation to various children's charities and agencies across Windsor-Essex for the 2016-2017 fundraising year.
This year's sum for the hospital is up from the $115,000 raised by WE Care during the 2015-16 fundraising season, according to records.
The cheque was presented to the hospital foundation by a group of WE Care for Kids "spokeskids." Richard Vennettilli, president of the WRH Foundation, says expectant mothers and new babies will be among the patients benefiting from this donation.
"In the family birthing centre, they've purchased a baby weight scale, a vital sign monitor and a Drager jaundice meter," says Vennettilli.
The pediatric services department and pediatric operating room will be getting new surgical equipment for ears, nose and throat, as well as a pulse oximetry monitor, says Vennettilli. The littlest patients will also be getting help as a result of this gift.
"In the neonatal intensive care, they've purchased a Giraffe OmniBed, an infant C-PAP flow system, a transcutaneous monitor, an overhead phototherapy lamp as well as another baby weight scale," says Vennettilli.
In addition to the donation given Friday, WE Care for Kids is also pledging to provide an additional $99,000 for the purchase of a mobile C-Arm mini-view diagnostic imaging machine, a cutting-edge device assisting in x-ray and diagnosis. This machine is expected to find a lot of use in the pediatric department as well as the emergency room.
Other organizations receiving donations from WE Care for Kids in the 2016-2017 fundraising year include the John McGivney Children's Centre, the Leamington District Memorial Hospital Foundation, the Ronald McDonald House, Windsor-Essex Therapeutic Riding Association, and the Learning Disabilities Association of Windsor-Essex.
