Memorial Cup Arrives

After over a year of planning the MasterCard Memorial Cup officially comes to town on Thursday.

The trophy arrives Thursday evening along the Detroit River on a Canadian Coast Guard patrol vessel. The ship will dock at Dieppe Gardens at 6pm and a parade will follow to the Windsor cenotaph for a small ceremony.

"The excitement is here. We're finally starting to feel the energy on the street, ticket sales are moving up in the right direction and all is good. We're just hoping for good weather when that ship arrives down at Dieppe Park this afternoon," says event chair John Savage.

Free fan zones at the WFCU Centre open to the public on Friday and are open daily throughout the tournament.

The first game is tomorrow at the WFCU Centre when the Windsor Spitfires face the Saint John Seadogs at 7pm. Tickets for the tournament are still available.
