Proud Mom Takes Home $100K

It’s taken a while for reality to sink in, but Windsor’s Amanda Macko seems to now have plans for her scratch ticket winnings.

She was recently at the Petro Canada on Tecumseh Rd. in Windsor when she decided to buy an Instant Crossword Tripler.

“I bought four tickets and scratched all four. I didn’t think I won anything but still decided to scan my tickets in the ticket checker,” says Macko.

It turns out she won $5, and since there was just one crossword ticket left in the store’s tray, she bought it.

“I scratched my ticket later that day. I stared in disbelief and outlined every single word to be sure,” Macko explains. “I returned to the store right away, used the ticket checker and then I told the retailer, ‘I think the ticket checker is broken.’ It didn’t seem real.”

She’s now excited about changes she can make in her life, thanks to the $100,000.

“I am a single mom who happily works two jobs to support myself and my wonderful little girl," says Macko. "This win means we get a house of our own. I can’t wait to make a down payment. Winning the lottery is the best feeling in the world, besides being a mom of course!”
