BC Company Expands In Windsor

Talius, a manufacturing company that makes retractable outdoor screens, is now operating out of Windsor.

"If you have a back porch enclosure that you'd like to keep the sun and have privacy while you're entertaining outside, then you can motorize or manual crank the screens down to have a room when you want it and put the screens up when you don't want it any more," says Talius Ontario President Jason Watorek.

Talius is a British Columbia based company that has been making Habitat Screens for 30 years. It decided to expand in Windsor for better distribution opportunities in Eastern Canada.

Watorek says the opportunity arose through working with the company through their existing Windsor business Seaton Sunrooms.

"We've been working with them for about eight years so we know a lot about the product, we've installed hundreds of these units so we know the product in and out and we figured why not start manufacturing them here," says Watorek.

He says the current economic and housing boom in Ontario and across eastern Ontario will create many opportunities for them.

"We have already increased our staff, doubled it, and we're hoping to double it or triple it within the next year or two," says Watorek.

They currently employ 10 people. Talius Ontario has been operating and manufacturing the screens from its Rhodes Dr. location since April.
