One person is dead following a crash on Hwy 3 in Essex County.
Ontario Provincial Police say the incident occurred soon before 7:30pm Saturday night. Investigators say a black Jeep was traveling eastbound on Hwy 3 east of Manning Rd when it lost control and flipped. The vehicle rolled over and came to a rest across the eastbound lanes of the highway.
The Lakeshore Fire Department and Essex County EMS also responded. The male passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. He was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Both directions of Hwy 3 were closed between Manning Rd and Ellis Sideroad during the investigation and reopened shortly after 12:30am Sunday, the OPP said. The OPP's Technical Collision Investigators were on scene trying to piece together what actually happened.
The name and age of the person killed in the crash have not been released pending notification of loved ones.
